So... among all the other things I've been doing lately, I've invented a game. Yes yes, give me kudo's and accolades....
It's a strategy type thing, like Chess. But it's almost more like a cross between Chinese Checkers and Othello. I've played it a few times with a few different groups (it can be played with up to 6 players), and everyone has seemed to like it. Whether or not they'd be willing to spend money to play it is yet to be seen. I need to start looking at copyright and other legal stuff, but I've sent word out that I'm looking for prices on dice (for when I get to the marketing stage). Yes, it's a strategy game that involves dice. For a six player game, roughly 108 dice to be exact (in six fun colors).
I thought of just letting this be free for anyone, you'd just need to buy your own dice. But, I figure I might as well see what I can do with this as far as trying to make some money on it. Who knows... maybe Parker Brothers will offer me millions of dollars for it. Or, maybe I'll lose millions of dollars on it... well, I'd need to have the millions first, huh? I can get enough dice for 6 players for about $15.50, retail. But I'm quite curious what the wholesale price is. I'd guess about half that, but how many would I need to buy total? Thousands? Millions?? A hundred and eight?

For those who think my whole ghost experiences are just my imagination because I haven't mentioned them in a while.......
It's not that they've stopped making noise, but they don't scare the hell out of me anymore, so I can sleep at night again.
I was trying to sleep Sunday night. I was laying on my back and apparently had my hand on my stomach. All of a sudden I felt something cold on my hand. I opened my eyes, and there was nothing there, but I could feel something like a hand tighten it's grip on me. I studied my hand (thanks to the neighbor's flood lights, I get plenty of light at night) for a second, and then without thinking, I shook my hand like it was a wet dog, and the grip on my hand was gone.
Sure, it could have been any number of things... but I'm still gonna say it's the ghosts.

So... I have this cousin in the entertainment industry. No, really, it's true! Let's call him Tom. Anyways, his sister-in-laws surprise 50th, carribean themed, birthday party was this weekend (and let me tell you, wearing bermuda shorts in freezing weather is a miserable experience). So Tom says to me, "are you still writing?" And I say, "well, not as much as I'd like to." So he tells me that he wants to write a movie script, but all he can come up with is romantic love-story type stuff. And how he really wants to write something more science-fictiony or fantasy. So he proposes this: I write the story, and he'll put it in a script.
I don't know... this is certainly the motivaton I need to write more. But I like writing for me, not for someone else... writing for others changes your style. "How can I write this to make sure it gets picked up?" One out of twenty scripts are even considered for movies.... probably less for television. Not to mention the Tom's screening process. How well can I handle rejection?
He said to spend a few weeks writing a "log line." It's basically a summery of the summery. I'd never heard of it before yesterday, so I thought it was something to do with lumberjacks.
So here I sit now, trying to come up with some kind of idea for a story, something fantasy-esque, while still maintaining our modern culture. And no, I'm not thinking of something like that horrible Masters of the Universe movie... more like Xmen, without super powers and stuff, so maybe more like Firestarter.... or even Welcome Back Kotter.

Ugh
What to say, other than "I'm exhausted."
Work has been a complete nightmare, going on three weeks. I don't remember I mentioned it here, but my immediate supervisor dropped the ball big time on an important issue. While fixing it, we had to let some other important issues get pushed back, and while working on those, we let other issues get back, creating a nice little domino effect thing. Today, the last domino fell... right on top of us. We had so much to get done, and no time to do it. And it doesn't help that Carlos's computer reboots randomly, and mine and Virginia's computers lock up when using an important program we use all the time (I'd like to point out that these problems didn't occur before we moved, although nothing changed in the software or hardware). Ten hours of stress filled work today... and we managed to meet several deadlines. But though I claim this was the final domino, I'm certain there's more than one Damoclean domino up there, just waiting to smack me on the noggin.
I even managed to get out of work in plenty of time to go sign the papers stating that I no longer own a condo. And in the process I found out that Debbie almost got evicted. I'm so glad I don't live there anymore... I'd have been quite miffed when the cops showed up.
As I said, I'm exhausted... it's 8:30, and I'm going to bed. Or... maybe just a nap before bed.

My ISP has been pretty nasty lately. I've not been able to access most of the internet, for about a week. Oddly, about the only thing I could do was various chat-type things. What's up with that?
---------
Well, my first week at the new office building was actually pretty abnormal. The packing for a week was rough, and Friday night's big party thrown by our biggest printer was good (got trapped talking to the guy that threw the party until about 10:30, the party actually ended at 8). Saturday's unpacking was rough. I couldn't believe the number of people that showed up only to unpack their own things and left. Me and 3 others worked on the file area, and I don't even use the files. It took us about 4 hours to do that, and we were rushing. I helped a lot of other people with some things too. And by the time I was ready to go, one of the women's cars died. So I stayed there until her cousin came to pick her up. I figured a big empty office building might not be safe for a young woman. Another woman stayed too, probably thinking the first wasn't safe with me. But I wasn't leaving two women alone in the dark and cold. Anyway, I was exhausted by the time I got home.... I think around 7 PM or so.
So the week went something like this. My supervisor came in on Monday in her usual pissy mood. Still hadn't finished unpacking, and whined the whole day about how she didn't know what to do with a box full of personal stuff. Tuesday she called in sick, we all danced a jig. Then the manager called, about a 125 orders that were supposed to be AT the printer on Thursday. Without the person responsible for this, it all came down on me, Carlos and Virginia. We had people yelling and screaming at us to get this stuff in 5 days ago. Well, we got 75 orders done that day, and about 25 done over the rest of the week, still waiting for info on the other 25. We had to completely improvise just about everything. But so far, no complaints. One of the other supervisor's sent an email to the manager (who's been in Florida all week for the national sales meeting) which said what a great job we all did, and what a pivitol role I played in getting everything done.... possibly because Carlos didn't really care about getting the stuff done, and Virginia still doesn't understand it at all. But still, when Mona (the manager) called, I said that it was a group effort. It's not my job to make me look good.
Gloria (the supervisor) never came in for the rest of the week... we danced many jigs. Although, if she shows up tomorrow, we're going to have to put up with a lot of her shit. We did a lot of things, made a lot of decisions, and pretty much realized we don't need her. I just don't want to deal with that.
Anyway, I'm tired and I'd better get plenty of rest to deal with all the crap that Gloria's going to do tomorrow.
