Find yourself a long, dark road with eerie trees hanging overhead. A road that makes the hairs on your arm stand on end. Then, drive fast and crank up Doll Polyphony from the Akria soundtrack.
What you should experience can only be descrived as wonderful...

She was crossing the driveway as I left Paul's house. I couldn't let this opportunity pass me by, so I did one of those pseudo-jogs to catch up to her. "Excuse me," I called out when just a few steps behind her. She turned. The moonlight shone on her, as beautiful as I'd remembered, although shadows of worry held across her face. "Yes?" I scratched my head before I answered, trying to think of what to say next. "I was wondering if you might like to get some dinner." I faltered of the last word, it was ten o'clock, few people eat dinner so late. She studied my face for a moment. "Do I know you?" "What? Oh, no. I saw you earlier today." She looked confused, and perhaps a little apprehensive. I hurried with what I was saying before she could question me. "I saw you walking on Golf Road, I wanted to pull over to talk to you, but... well... I thought you might think me some kind of crazed lunatic." The delicate smile that formed across her lips made my heart jump. "Walk with me a ways?" She asked. "Of coure, m'lady." I said pulling an imaginary hat off my head and bowing deeply. I couldn't see her face, though the soft laughter that made my heart melt made me wish I could. We walked slowly, talking the whole time. It was just idle chit-chat until she noticed that I had a very difficult time taking my eyes off of her. "So tell me," she asked, "what is it that made you want to talk to me?" "It's just... umm... you're very pretty." Again there was that smile. Wow. We came to my car, sitting in a parking lot up the block from Paul's house, so I wouldn't get blockaded in the driveway. "What's that?" She aksed, pointing to the magnetic Cthulhu-fish clinging to the trunk. It's like the Jesus-fish, only with tentacle's, the word Cthulhu written inside, and an aire of evil about it. Don't lie, I heard in the back of my mind. "It's... umm... an ancient, evil god who's asleep deep beneath the ocean." She nodded slowly, trying not to laugh. "And you believe in this..." I'll show my respect for her by not repeating her pronounciation of the word here. "Well, it's more a hobby then a belief." I told her about my fascination with '20s horror writer HP Lovecraft. We sat on the trunk of my car for a bit. George came to get his car out of the lot, surprised to see me still there. I figured some kind of introduction was in order. "George, this is... umm..." I looked at her, and realized we'd never exchanged names. "Tabitha." She helped. Tabitha, not a name I've ever been very fond of, probably because of Bewitched... but for her, it was the most perfect name imaginable. After a few more minutes, she looked at her watch. "I need to go," she said a bit sadly, hopping off the trunk. I offered to drive her to where she was going. She studied the Cthulhu-fish and after a pause she said, "I don't think my husband would like that." "Oh... you're...." She nodded, a whisper of an appology escaped her lips. Somwhat dejected, somewhat humorously, I said, "jeez, and here I was gonna kiss you too." She acted without thinking, stretching up on her toes, and pressed her lips against mine, only briefly, before turning and running off. "Wait..." I yelled for her, but she'd already rounded the corner. I felt as if I was going to cry, all for someone I'd only known for fifteen minutes.

It's lunchtime. I go to the forest preserve to read my book in the peaceful air of nature. It's only abuot 55 degrees, and so I stay in my car with the windows cracked open. As I near finishing my sandwich, the nearly-crippled goose hobbles near my car, I roll down my window and throw some bread to him. He eats, then manages his way over those cement things on the side of the road that stop you from parking on the grass. I believe that his leg might have been broken and healed badly. I throw some more bread out to him, then some ham, roast beef and finally cheese. I let him know, under no uncertain terms, that I could not give him any more... I was out of food. He hobbled away and I continued reading my book, Amazonia by James Rollins. It's a decent story so far, but the characters aren't very realistic, dialog is often far more melodramatic than should be acceptable, and I find it VERY hard to believe the US Army would send a team of Rangers out on the Amazon River that had never been in a forest before. thud While closing their car door someone took me out of the story... a ranger had just been eaten by an animal. thud That didn't sound like a car door, I looked around and of the two cars nearby, both were empty. thud Looked down outside the window... there was the goose, begging for more food. I felt bad, he is so cute close up, and I had no food. I rolled down my window again to talk to him, he stood as tall as he could and stuck his head in the car. It took some convincing, but he finally believed that I had no food and left for a second time. I was very sad, probably moreso than he was.
I've brought food for him for the past 3 days, but I've not seen him. Although I've seen him every time I've come here without food. This reminds me of some kind of fairy tale and I can't help but wonder what magic might befall me.
