Mistakes were made

New York City meets Munich

I’m still awake inside my head

Conny View definition in a new window and I had the pleasure of seeing Jonathan Coulton perform live in New York City a while back. It was a bit of an impulse thing, as we were only slightly familiar with his work, but we thought it could be fun to give one of his shows a try.

Boy, were we right.

From the opening act of Paul and Storm, we were already delighted. We didn’t know any of the material, but the music was catchy, clever and funny, and the two performers had such a great stage presence.

When Jonathan Coulton came on, we were hooked. Yes, this is geeky music, but there’s charm and solid musicianship.

This video for “Shop-Vac” is a fine sample of one of his “Funny/Sad” songs. The use of typography, branding and animation compliments the song brilliantly.

And yes, I remembered all of this because I posted the link to “Ikea” yesterday.
