New York City meets Munich

Our stuff

That ship has sailed.Almost seven weeks ago in New York City, movers boxed up and took away virtually everything we own. Next week, we will get our things delivered to our new home in Munich.

One take away from being without a vast majority of this crap is how little of it we really need. Since we opted to sell off and give away most of the furniture and appliances that wouldn’t work in Germany, the remainder was a rather large accumulation of clothing. I can’t just point the finger at Conny View definition in a new window, either, as we have become quite the pair of clotheshorses over the years.

We could take only the essentials that would fit in four suitcases and two carry-on bags on the flight: clothing, three laptops, two iPads, two iPods, a Time Capsule, a digital SLR camera, a pocket digital camera, an Xbox with a selection of games, a Rock Band guitar controller and a Rock Band keyboard controller.

Yes, playing Rock Band is essential. Though I’ve had to make due with using one of the smaller guitar controllers, instead of my wonderful Strat. I like my toy guitars big and heavy, damn it.

Shoes! It will be great to have our stuff again, though. The big problem is where to put all the clothing. Built-in closets are mythical beasts here in Munich, so all clothing storage has to involve buying furniture. I’ve already assembled a fair amount of Ikea furniture for our living room. Looks like I’ll be doing a lot more for the bedroom.

At least we found a good solution for my lady’s shoes. Hey, some of them are like artwork, so we might as well put them on display.
