New York City meets Munich

Important research from Forbes

January 31st, 2008 · No Comments · NYC

If you were considering coming to New York for a visit, or perhaps even thinking about moving here, Forbes has something to suggest: don’t. New York is the 4th most miserable city in the U.S. So unless you are coming from Detroit, Stockton or Flint (which are more miserable than New York), stay put or go elsewhere.

You can’t argue with Forbes, people. So stay away. Move to Philly. You wouldn’t like it here. We have the worst commute in the entire country, and the highest taxes. Not so good with the violent crime and the unemployment either. Horrible stuff. Stick to the ‘burbs, if you can. Maybe a nice farm somewhere. Just don’t move here. Forbes says you’ll be miserable.

It’s a pity Forbes doesn’t actually publish the full list they made, since people could just look at the least miserable city on it and everyone could go there. But in the absence of that data, at least you know to stay the hell away from my city.

Keep out! Only misery! Shoo!

That’s why the rents here are so high, and rising all the time. Because misery loves company. No matter how miserable we make it here, more people keep coming, damn it.

While we’re on the subject of lists, Forbes.com makes the the top ten for websites that have waaaay too much advertising and crappy fluff editorials that are strung out to increase clicks for all those stupid ads. I’ve seen porn sites more subdued and professional. If you can’t make it to New York City for your dose of misery, just visit the Forbes.com site.
