Think outside the Xbox Live

March 1st, 2005 · No Comments · Gaming, Xbox

I’m wondering when we’re going to see a game for Xbox Live that consists of a variety of simple mini-games playable on Xbox Live. You would think this would be a no brainer, but apparently, everyone is so busy making yet-another-shooter that there’s no time for anything else.

One of the best things about Xbox Live is the voice chat, and even simple networked games would be more enjoyable because of that. Having an Xbox Live mini and party game assortment could be a lot of fun. And it’s a smart business model if you allow for downloadable content. You could introduce “packs” of new games every few weeks for $5 a pop. Since premium Xbox Live downloads are viral (because if I get them, I need my friends to get them) you could turn a single Xbox Live “game” into a mini-gaming platform.

Because frankly, if there’s anything the Xbox Live game market doesn’t need, it’s another deathmatch.
