Burning it up

February 17th, 2005 · No Comments · Xbox

I always thought it was so we could mod our Xboxes into being toasters or space heaters, but it turns out the power cord isn’t really supposed to get that hot. Turns out Microsoft is doing a recall/replacement program for the power cord for those of us who have Xboxes cranking out a few too many BTUs. You can find out if you qualify by visiting the official Xbox site.

Be warned though, you’ll need your Xbox serial number, which is situated in the most inconvenient place you can imagine. It’s on the underside, but if you lift up the unit from the front, the text will be upside-down and tiny.

I don’t know what gets hotter, the power cord, or my head while trying to read the frickin’ serial number.
