Let that eagle soar far, far away.

John Ashcroft has stepped down as Attorney General of the United States because, as he states in his resignation letter “the objective of securing the safety of Americans from crime and terror has been achieved.” Apparently, Bush will not be needing to appoint a new Attorney General, because Ashcroft simply finished the job.

Nicely done. I feel safer already. Now he can go back to his career in music.

Though it is a pity that Mr. Ashcroft felt compelled to handwrite the letter, because so that “the confidentiality can be maintained.” Guess things aren’t all that secure. Y’know, with all those internets and all.
