Dreamy Host

October 6th, 2004 · No Comments · Blogging, Internet

I rather recently learned the hard way the hidden costs of using a crappy hosting company. My own hosting needs are rather tame, though we do manage to serve up about 20 GB of data a month, the TalkAboutUSA web forum being most of that traffic. But that same forum is rather dependant on MySQL and PHP, and there’s almost 14 domains being hosted here, so my needs are bit more complex than what most people might be looking for in a web host.

With that being said, you really can’t go wrong with DreamHost, especially since they just slashed prices. I was paying $40 a month, which felt like I was paying for (and receiving) premium hosting. Now I’m paying $20 a month, which feels like a steal. If you don’t have as many domains as I do, you can get by for just $10 a month. When you sign up, you even get a domain registration included. All plans offer PHP, MySQL and shell access.

Their web management tools are great, their support is fast, friendly and helpful, and things just work. If you are looking around, I’d look no further.

Since they just lowered my hosting bill, I felt like singing their praises. And, full disclosure, yes, they have an affiliate program, but I’d plug ’em without that.
