Be afraid

Today was Santa Day at work. People can bring their kids in for fun and games and general holiday merriment. It is a low productivity day, tolerated mostly because it would be a low productivity day anyway.

They took advantage of some of space on one of our more empty floors to set up the “North Pole” arcade. They brought in a skeeball machine, a whack-a-mole, one of those basketball games, and one of those putting games (which I don’t think is really for the kiddies.) I think this should be more of a year-round thing.

They also hire some entertainers for the kiddies as well, which mostly consist of people in costumes roaming around, like Hello Kitty, and surprise surprise, my current nemesis, Elmo.

Elmo is scary when he clocks in at around 6 feet tall. And I’m not the only one who thinks so. A little girl was crying and clutching her daddy, saying frantically “Where’s Elmo? Where’s Elmo?” to which her father assured her “Don’t worry, Elmo isn’t here.”

At that moment, who should come sauntering around the corner but the red furry loquacious demon himself. The little girl saw his approach, and let out a loud scream.

I know exactly how she feels.
