Mistakes were made

New York City meets Munich

Damn the lawyers

My in-laws are arriving this Friday. Due to some seriously procrastination on the part of their travel agent, and in spite of assurance to the contrary from same, they got utter screwed out of hotel accommodations for the first weekend they are here. Or, to be more precise, reasonable hotel accommodations. Or reasonable for New York City. You get the picture.

That means it is Chez Nosuch for mein Mutter-in-law and der Vater-in-law (or, again, trying to be precise, die Schwiegermutter und der Schwiegervater.) Now that Leo has two working parents, we decided to avail ourselves of one of our buildings amenities, the cleaning service. It’s not free, mind you, but there is a dry cleaner / cleaning service on the first floor, and you can’t get more convenient than that.

We called, and found out about the rates and the availability. We figure we’d have them come on Thursday and get the place all gorgeous, and since we don’t need a crazy dog bouncing around making the cleaners nuts, we’d take Leo to the groomer for the day, so both dog and apartment would be fresh and spiffy.

So we stop by last night to make the final arrangements, only to discover that the cleaning service is no more. Seems they are getting sued.

Welcome to New York City.
