My T-Mobile Sidekick is something I’ve come to depend on. It’s my kind of gizmo. Having Google in my pocket is pretty handy.

The one drawback to a really useful gizmo is the agony of being deprived of it, like when it breaks.

And such a device is most likely to break when:

  • I’m about to take a trip,
  • I won’t have my computer,
  • and I won’t have an Internet connection.

So it turns out I’ll be very much unplugged from things starting tomorrow, until Friday when a replacement unit will arrive at my Mother’s house. The folks at T-Mobile were really helpful, putting up with my desperate sobbing and pleading. After I stopped hyperventilating, it only took about ten minutes to make the arrangements.

I have no idea what happened to the Sidekick. The display just decided to stop working. And no, I didn’t drop it, nor did it fall in the toilet.
