Whatever you do as a teacher, don’t offend your students:

A fourth-grade teacher at Williams Elementary School has received a formal reprimand for teaching her students the word “niggardly,” the teacher’s son said Tuesday.

Last week, teacher Stephanie Bell said she used the word “niggardly,” which means stingy or miserly, during a discussion about literary characters. But parent Akwana Walker, who is black, protested the use of the word, saying it offended her because it sounds similar to a racial slur.

Usage of words like “kites”, “naps”, “honker”, and “fog” are also off limits, since each sound somewhat close to a slur. Other words which are on the block are “passed,” as it contains the word “ass”, “half-cocked,” which has far too much “cock” in it, and “sextant,” since you cannot possibly use a word with “sex” in it within 500 feet of a minor.

As our great president George W. Bush said “Is our children learning?”
