Mistakes were made

New York City meets Munich

Over the hill

Ten years ago, I felt like the overall trend of things was improvement and progress. I was skeptical, but hopeful. Democracy and capitalism seemed to be slowly making the world a more stable place. Technology was offering great opportunities and bringing people together. Hardly a perfect place, but I was hopeful.

Now, I look around, and I see government whoring itself out to business, destroying innovation, culture and free speech. The world is clearly more dangerous than ever. Things are getting worse, not better.

So I think it’s official. I’m an old fart. I’ve passed the tipping point where I think the past is going to be better than the future. I thought I had at least another ten years to go before fartdom, but I suppose it always sneaks up on you.
