Biological Warfare

Snip. Snip. Snip.

I look across the aisle of the train on my commute to Piscataway this morning. The gentleman sitting there has put his paper down and is looking at me. On his face is a look of shock and disgust. I’m pretty sure I share a similar disdainful expression.

Snip. Snip. Snip.

“That’s disgusting,” my train neighbor says.

Snip. Snip. Snip.

I nod and roll my eyes. What sort of animal clips his nails on the train?

I decided not to share the time I witnessed a woman on the uptown E subway, with her feet up on a seat, clipping her toenails. New York City subways already have a bad enough image, and frankly, just remembering the incident was enough to send shudders through me. It’s best left unsaid.
