Let’s get critical

I’ve been reviewed at the Weblog Review.

If my biggest failings are a dull masthead and lots of text, I’m pretty happy. The masthead is dull because it loads fast, and there’s lots of text so that visitors don’t need to click around a lot to read. A sexy graphic to replace the text masthead might look snazzier, but it would waste bandwidth. My ugly mug is already chewing up bandwidth goodwill, I don’t need to annoy my impatient readers further. I might trim the amount of text on the front page from 7 days to 5 days, or to the 5 last posts. We’ll see. I need to add some better, dynamic archive links at the bottom of the page first.

Other than that, the folks at the Weblog Review were surprisingly gentle. And to think for another $20 I could have upgraded my “good review” to a “glowing review.” I guess that’s the price I get for being cheap. I’m looking forward to when the Weblog Review will accept credit cards, and not just PayPal. Great business model, though, I must admit.
